SMS selected Remesys to deliver a remuneration review solution for their organisation.
Prior to implementing R.Review, SMS used spreadsheets to manage three remuneration reviews each year with different segments of the business on separate remuneration cycles. Managing the remuneration review is a complex task in such a diverse organisation and was extremely time consuming for the specialist HR staff responsible for initiating, tracking and reporting upon the process. Ensuring data integrity was also an ongoing task for the team. Spreadsheets had to be checked and double-checked at each stage of the review. With no system supporting the process, there could be no clear audit trail making it virtually impossible to trace the source of recommendations, including disputes or errors.
Choosing the Right Solution
The process of vendor investigation and assessment occurred over a couple of years, but once a decision was made, the implementation of R.Review was straight forward.
A business case was prepared and ROI was easy to demonstrate based upon the amount of time the system would save. Team members would no longer need as much time administering and managing the process, preparing letters and spreadsheets, and checking for currency of information.
The Remesys consultants worked with the SMS remuneration team to implement a remuneration review system on time and within budget.
R.Review was configured so that all fields, calculations and screens used SMS terminology making the transition to the new system very easy for managers and administrators.

Managers appreciated the intuitive layout, ease of use and richer employee data. The solution enabled managers to make informed decisions about each team member’s recommendation whilst also tracking the impact on their budget in real-time.
Generation of remuneration letters was another feature of R.Review that provided enormous benefits, including no more late night mail merge sessions with the HR team checking everyone’s letters. The system automatically generated letters for all employees based upon multiple scenarios including different letters by country, for full and part-time employees, increase or no increase, as well as different super threshold amounts. Electronic signatures and appropriate corporate stationery were automatically applied to each letter.

Remesys clients have at least one dedicated consultant throughout the review processes. This ensures that clients have direct access to expert advice and support whenever required. Remesys provided all training and support required to ensure that all benefits of an automated remuneration review system were realised in the first review cycle.
